Family

Family has always been and will be the basis of my life.

"I was born in České Budějovice into a family that was completely „affected“ by culture. My mum Jarka was a teacher of long-term hospitalized children in the hospital, my dad Petr was an actor of the South Bohemian Theatre. And my brother, who is 4 years older, is an excellent cellist.

They discovered my talent for music in my early childhood, I was constantly humming something and sang and banged a rhythm on pots. I got my first violin, a tin toy, when I was about 2,5 years old. I started to attend the then People´s School of Art, so-called Liduška, around the age of five and my first teacher was Mr Havel. He was the one who awakened in me a love for music and violin. Otherwise, I had absolutely ordinary and happy childhood with everything that belonged to it.

My mum strictly supervised my playing until I was about 12 years old, then I knew that the violin would be my life and that I want to be a professional musician. Logically, I continued to the Prague Conservatory, Music Academy of Performing Arts, studies in USA. My parents supported me enormously all the time and I am still very grateful to them for everything they have done and sacrificed for me. It wasn´t always easy for them.

I travelled and played all over the world after my studies in America, I lived the life of free artist and I didn´t plan to start a family. My meeting with Jiří Kodet, a great Czech actor, changed everything. I went to his performance and I was so captivated that I wrote him a letter and invited him to my concert. He was already seriously ill at that time, so Bára came instead of him.

We have been together for more than 15 years and we raise three wonderful daughters.

I wouldn´t be who I am without my family.
